Overview of Resource Analytics

OCI Resource Analytics is an inventory of OCI resources, their relationships, and configuration metadata, across both tenancies and regions.

You can access near-real-time, detailed information on monitored resources with SQL queries, graph-based visualizations, and analytics dashboards. Resource Analytics provisions an Oracle Autonomous AI Database (ADW) and, optionally, an Oracle Analytics Cloud (OAC) instance in your tenancy, letting you import datasets and dashboards to track the inventory, monitor compliance, and troubleshoot. The ADW maintains a best-practice relational model of OCI resources, including a property graph that lets you analyze resources and their associations in Graph Studio, and continuously ingests resource updates across the regions and tenancies you specify.

Important

Resource Analytics requires an ADW instance, and optionally an OAC instance. Although the resource updates provided by Resource Analytics are free, use of ADW (and OAC) is chargeable.
Altogether, you have:
Direct SQL connections
All the existing interfaces for connecting to an Autonomous AI Database are available.
Built-in analytics
An optional preconfigured Oracle Analytics Cloud (OAC) instance with a semantic model, along with prebuilt dashboards and reports.
Third-party data integration
You can bring custom datasets by importing the data into a separate schema in ADW. Then, you can merge these custom datasets with Resource Analytics datasets for enriched insights.
Visualization
Intuitive graph visualization enabled through Graph Studio with preconfigured maps and notebooks to explore resources and their interdependencies.

About the Resource Analytics Console

The Resource Analytics Console has several functions.

The functions are:

  • Setting up a Resource Analytics instance.
  • Changing existing Resource Analytics instances (such as regional or tenancy coverage).
  • Listing existing Resource Analytics instances.
  • Choosing to change Resource Analytics feature selection (for example, adding OAC).
  • Removing an Resource Analytics instance or optional components.
    Note

The removal of a Resource Analytics instance doesn't delete the Oracle ADW instance or the data contained within it, nor is any OAC removed. But, the remaining data becomes stale as the update feeds are removed. To remove the ADW or optional OAC instance, follow instructions provided in the appropriate Console management applications for these services.

The Resource Analytics Console can be found by navigating within the Console menu to the section entitled Observability & Management. From the list of services, select Resource Analytics to take you to the main landing page for the service. From here you can either create a new instance or view any instances created earlier.

Region Availability

Resource Analytics is available in all Oracle Cloud Infrastructure commercial regions.

For more information, see About Regions and Availability Domains for the list of available regions for Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, along with associated locations, region identifiers, region keys, and availability domains.

About Resource Analytics Releases

Schemas might change periodically; Oracle will notify you of any backward-incompatible changes. Although uncommon, it's possible that columns are added, changed, or removed.
