Installing and Configuring a Roving Edge Device

Before you can use Roving Edge device, you must prepare your site for the installation of the device, prepare your tenancy, and initialize the connection of the Roving Edge device to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.

Work with your data center administrator to ensure that the necessary network resources have been reserved in advance at the installation site.

Prepare your data center for the Roving Edge device installation:

  • Allocate space for the device (rack or bench space depending on what you've ordered).
  • Provide power.
  • Plan network connectivity.
  • Evaluate environmental requirements.
  • Prepare a controlling host such as a laptop with terminal emulation that will be used to initialize the device.
3. Prepare your OCI tenancy by setting up these items:
  • Federated identity provider
  • Users and groups
  • Compartments
  • Policies
  • Virtual cloud network (VCN) with a subnet

Create an infrastructure in the compartment that represents the device in your tenancy.

7. Install and configure the software.
