Administering Oracle Radio
Radio administrators manage Radio authorization, channels, supported devices, and approved operational settings.
Radio administration changes Radio-owned data. It does not create, update, disable, or delete Identity Domain users or Identity Domain groups. Review how authentication and Radio authorization work together.
In Radio, select the page for the task you want to perform. The pages available to you depend on your permissions.
For tables and dialogs, see keyboard navigation.

Allow the Floating Oracle Radio Control
Use Application settings to control whether eligible users can talk from supported pages outside the Radio workspace. This setting applies to all users in the instance; each user also has a personal preference.
Reading the setting requires radio.settings.read; changing it requires radio.settings.manage. See settings permissions.
- In the browser app, open the navigation menu and select Application settings.
- Turn Allow application-wide Radio control on or off.
- Wait for the enabled or disabled confirmation. If saving fails, review the error before retrying; don't assume the change was saved.
Turning this setting off removes the floating control from supported pages for everyone. It doesn't disable calling in the Radio workspace. Users who enable their personal preference still need talk permission and a listening channel. See floating controls and control guidance.
Set the Default Distance Units
Choose the browser's distance display unit for users who haven't selected a personal unit. Changing this default doesn't change stored distances or geofence API values, which remain in meters.
Reading the setting requires radio.settings.read; changing it requires radio.settings.manage. See settings permissions.
- In the browser app, open the navigation menu and select Application settings.
- Set Default distance units to Meters or Miles.
- Wait for the Default distance units updated. confirmation. If saving fails, review the error and verify the selected value before retrying.
A user's personal Meters or Miles selection takes precedence. To follow the instance default again, the user selects Server default under Units in Radio settings. For unexpected units, see unit guidance.
User Onboarding Sequence
- Verify that the person is an active user in the configured Identity Domain.
- Enable Radio access for that directory user.
- Assign one or more Radio groups.
- Verify that those groups grant the least set of required permissions.
- Verify channel access.
Device Enrollment
Radio administrators can register supported Radio mobile application installations for enabled Radio users. See Managing Oracle Radio Devices.
Administration Handoff
Keep a current administrator enabled until a replacement administrator verifies access that requires radio.user.manage and radio.group.manage. See Handing Off Oracle Radio Administration.
Monitoring and Diagnostics
Use customer-visible connection and talk states together with Public Safety and Security metrics. See Monitoring Oracle Radio and Public Safety and Security Metrics.

An authenticated Identity Domain principal does not automatically have Radio access. Enabling a Radio user without appropriate group assignments might still leave the user unable to complete an operation.
