Managing Oracle Radio Channels

Create and delete Radio channels, configure their customer-visible properties, and add users to their saved subscriptions.

Channels created in the browser use the normal, open mode. They can appear in channel discovery before a user joins them; explicitly denied channels remain concealed. Visibility doesn't grant permission to transmit or perform other channel actions. Review the channel steps.

Creating an Oracle Radio Channel

You need the required channel and channel access permissions.
  1. In Radio, select Channels icon Channels.
  2. Select Create channel.
  3. Enter the Channel handle.
Use no more than 64 letters, numbers, hyphens, and underscores. Radio removes surrounding spaces and converts the handle to lowercase. If the handle is rejected, follow the naming guidance.
  4. Enter the optional Display name and Description.
  5. Set Maximum subscribers to a whole number greater than zero.
  6. Turn Keep channel available when empty and Make this the default channel on or off as required, and then select Create channel.
  7. Open Radio to find the new channel, and test access with an authorized and an unauthorized user.
The channel is added to the browser's Radio workspace without a page reload. Creating it doesn't automatically join or connect you to it. Follow the channel steps to join and listen.

Deleting an Oracle Radio Channel

You need the required channel and channel access permissions.

Caution

Before deleting a channel, verify that it is no longer used by operators or integrations. Deleting a channel removes its saved configuration and can't be undone.
  1. In Oracle Radio, select Channels, and find the channel that you want to delete.
  2. Open its Actions menu and select Delete. Type the displayed channel name exactly, and then select Delete channel.
You can't delete the default channel until another channel is the default. If the channel has active subscribers, Radio warns that they will be disconnected and changes the confirmation action to Disconnect all and delete.

Adding Users to an Oracle Radio Channel

Save a channel subscription for one or more users from the browser application.

A saved subscription doesn't start a live call or grant additional Radio permissions. Users still need the required channel access to participate.

Procedure

In addition to the applicable channel permissions, you need radio.user.manage to find users and radio.user.subscriptions.manage to manage their saved subscriptions. See user permissions.

  1. In Radio, select Channels.
  2. In the channel table, open the channel's Actions menu and select Manage members. In the card layout, select Manage members on the card.
  3. Search by name, username, or email, and select the users to add.
Only users with an active Identity Domain account and enabled Radio access are eligible. Users who already have a saved subscription to this channel aren't listed. Use Previous and Next to move between result pages. Selections remain checked across pages; running a new search clears the selection.
  4. Select Add selected user or Add selected users, and check the result.
If an error occurs after some additions succeed, those subscriptions remain saved. Review the refreshed list before retrying. See addition help.

The selected users have saved channel subscriptions. The live member count doesn't increase merely because a subscription was saved; users must connect to participate in a call.
